Security Concern for the Personally Controlled Electronic Health Record
Electronic Health Record

Even before the launch of the Personally Controlled Electronic Health Record (PCEHR) problems have started to occur. The leading security group AusCERT has shown concerns for the security of the PCEHR. As the security group claims that they do not have the sufficient information for the functioning of the PCEHR.

AusCERT had been Australia’s national Computer Emergency Response Team. The security group is based at University of Queensland. They were requested to hand over the services to the Government owned CERT Australia in 2010. They believe that the problem of security cannot be resorted unless they receive the details of the procedures that will be followed by PCEHR.

In the Government’s proposed e-health initiative the Australian will be able to register from the beginning of the next year. PCEHR has faced problems with the security of the data. Now with the new procedures the question arrives is that what they will do to prevent people with a criminal mind from gaining access to the records. There is a concern about the identity theft as well.

IBM has been chosen by the National E-Health Transition Authority (NEHTA) to develop and entail the Australia's health authentication system. They have been sanctioned the $23.6 million deal.
