Ovi Store launched by Nokia

Recently, Nokia came up with the announcement of its content store dubbed as Ovi Store. Reportedly, this store will serve not only applications, but also content in general to S40 and S60 users.

The company looks at achieving two goals via this store. First, it will make it really easy for the consumers to find relevant content and second, it would permit the developers to have a good publication/distribution mean.

Currently, the fist phone to have access to the store is Nokia N97 and it is being expected that Nokia, in order to gain profitable upgrade of existing phones, would work with wireless carriers. It is but obvious that carriers will be the ones deciding and announcing any updates.

It has also been learnt that there is also a social and a geographic element in Ovi Store. Nokia will bring in use the user's geographic location in order to show him the most relevant content. However, it will also scan what are the likings of the user's friends. To illustrate an example, it the user is in London, he might will get local content from London.

As far as the launch of Ovi Store is concerrned, it will be released in May 09.
