According to reports, ‘Everything Everywhere’ partners - Orange and T-Mobile – will be selling the newly-unveiled Apple iPad 2 in the UK when the tablet becomes available in the country on March 25.
Both Orange and T-Mobile have confirmed that they will subsidise the dual camera, dual-core processor second-generation iPad tablet, which was recently unveiled by the Apple CEO Steve Jobs, and will hit the US markets on March 11.
However, O2, the leading mobile network provider in the UK, has disclosed that it will not offer the iPad 2 on subsidised contracts; and that it will follow its existing iPad plans and only offer data packages for the tablet.
Elaborating on O2’s plans for the iPad 2, the carrier’s spokesman said: “We continue to offer great value, flexible data tariffs for iPad 2 and the unique ability to manage these tariffs on the device itself.”
The spokesman further added: “Although we will not be selling iPad 2 with subsidy, O2 microsims, with our great value iPad tariffs, are still available for customers who have purchased the device elsewhere.” The official also disclosed that over and above O2’s award-winning mobile broadband service, the customers will also be able to benefit from unlimited Wi-Fi “at thousands of The Cloud and BT Openzone hotspots.”
Meanwhile, Vodafone and Three - the remaining two of the UK’s top five networks - have still not released their plans for the iPad 2.
