Asbestos Disease Causes Fear in Kansas State

The Kansas state has always been a peaceful place. It is normally known as an agricultural state. In the last two decades the population of the state has increased. The aforementioned population of 2.36 million people in the census has increased to 2.68 million people. This peaceful state got disturbed by the outbreak of asbestos disease and mesothelioma. Around 360 patients lost their lives to the outbreak. The mesothelioma caused the bigger damage as the death toll was almost double when compared to asbestos disease.

The three companies that are responsible for the exposures of its employees to asbestos are Farmland Industries, Frontier Oil, and the Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Company. The confirmation was given in a report by the Environmental Working Group.

A 13% of the power plant workers of the total were X-rayed and all of them showed some degree of the asbestos blemishing. This study shows that power plant workers have a serious probability of contracting the disease. The Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Company should be marked as one of the firms with a major asbestos exposure. The Company is located in a small town with a population less than 3,000 people called Burlington. The authorities should take a step for the betterment of the people living in the town.
