An Attempt to Revive U.S. Sales

According to sources, it was confirmed that Wal-Mart is attempting to revive its US sales.

During an investor conference in New York on Thursday, the company directly claimed that it has plans to open a smaller format stores all across for the next three years.

Wal-Mart's U. S. Chief, Bill Simon claimed during Bank of America conference that it would rename its Neighbourhood Market Stores as “Walmart Market”.

In the year 2011, this group intends to open around 30 to 40 stores in the rural and the urban locations.

The company hopes that the smaller format of the stores would revive the sales figures and in-turn increases the profits.

During the conference, the company claimed that the sales have been improved in the U. S. stores for the last few weeks.

Wal-Mart has also announced the launch of “Pick Up Today”, a nationwide program to allow shoppers to order their favourite merchandise online and then pick up from the stores after few hours.

Sources have confirmed that the shares of Walmart have gained 1.1% and are now placed at $53.27.

The company is welcoming retailers those who own small retail stores to join the leagues and would help the company to make a turnaround their weakening business in U. S. the group has started the construction of Express Store in Gentry, Arkansas.
