Reports claim that a Kansas meat company has recalled pounds of beef from across the country after they thought that the meat may be E. coli contaminated.
The department of agriculture’s food safety and inspection service has announced in their statement that Creekstone Farms Premium Beef has recalled 14,158 pounds of ground beef from across the country.
The company has distributed the manufactured products to wholesalers of Arizona, California, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Washington. The meat was manufactured on Feb 22.
The wholesalers have repackaged the beef and have packed them in consumer-sized pack. These are being sold under various brand names.
The FSIS have claimed that they would post the name of the brands when it would be available to them.
Federal health officials have made an announcement in public to consume meat which is cooked over 160 degrees Fahrenheit. The safest way to consume meat is to check the internal temperature using a temperature thermometer.
It is found that E. coli is killed if the temperature exceeds 160 degrees Fahrenheit. The meat can be consumed safely after deep cooking. E. coli can cause severe illness among the old and those with a weak immune system.
