Updating its point-and-shoot PowerShot line, Canon USA Tuesday unveiled ten new digital cameras with photographic alternatives and modifications galore, both for amateurs as well as avid photographers.
Packed with avant-garde technologies, the new cameras will provide the users with a state-of-the-art photographic experience.
April onwards, the PowerShot SX1 IS - which was earlier available in Europe - will hit the US markets. Priced at $599.99, the
10-megapixel, 20x optical zoom camera, with a 28mm lens, can record 1080p video at 30 frames per second. A more economical superzoom - the SX200 IS - costing $349.99, offers a 12x optical zoom, and HD video capture of 720p at 30 fps.
The "performance and style"-oriented PowerShot Elph line, will comprise four new additions - 12-megapixel cameras SD970 IS and SD960 IS, priced at $379.99 and $329.99 respectively; and the 10-megapixel captures SD780 and SD1200, costing $279.99 and $229.99 respectively. These models will hit the market between early-March and mid-April.
In May, Canon's first waterproof camera, the PowerShot D10, will become available. The 12-megapixel camera, priced $329.99, will be quite a handful - with a removable faceplate, a 3x optical zoom, optical image stabilization, specific straps for mountain climbing!
Canon's other updates to be available March onwards include three A-Series camera line products, the least-expensive of the cameras announced - namely, A2100, A1100, and A480, priced respectively at $249.95, $199, and $129.99. (Rupinder contributed to this report)
