A new study by Michigan State University claims that people who have pet dog are much healthier than those without dog.
The study revealed that most of the dog owners have to take their dogs out for a walk or a short run frequently, which boost their activity level. Further, the team claims that dog owners follow a regular exercise regime as compare to those without dog.
The study revealed that dog owners usually spend 30 minutes on an average to do exercise for five days a week which gives them an edge over others.
In the wake of rising concern to maintain healthy life style, a public health department has reportedly suggested a minimum of 150 minutes of exercise per week. The aforementioned study has made it certain that keeping a dog increases the probability of following regular exercise.
Additionally, the study claims that dog owners are 34% more likely to achieve their exercise target as compared to those without dogs.
Responding to the study, Dr. Matthew Reeves from Michigan State University claims that there is no magic formula to achieve the target, but asserted that having a dog results in significant positive results.
Moreover, Dr. Reeves claims that though dog owners have significant edge over others, but there are many who still follow their stringent regime to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
