Yesterday, to discuss various healthcare issues and ways to improve the outcomes of technology over patients, a meeting was held in Canberra between the Health Minister Nicola Roxon and Michael Dell.
During the discussion, Michael Dell also pointed the importance of e-health to his company's strategy to Ms. Roxon.
According to a ministerial spokesman, the CEO of Dell was also briefed with the government’s investments in tele-health services, e-health records and broadband.
To develop a personally controlled e-health record system, The Gillard government has owed $467 million. This system is expected to be rolled out next year.
Dell, earlier known as Perot Systems is the computing giant's service system and is worth $US4 billion acquisition. It has boosted its e-health credentials. Being an excellent service provider, Dell magnetizes many reputed firms to be its customer. Britain's National Health Service is one of them.
As stated by the spokesperson during the meeting "They discussed how implementations of e-health internationally are improving healthcare outcomes for patients. The combination of these investments is creating massive interest from both the healthcare and IT sectors. It is also the subject of extensive consultation with clinicians and patients".
