UK’s biggest bus and train company, Go-Ahead has been selected to run the Greater Anglia Rail franchise until 2014. The franchise is presently run by National Express and their contract will end in February next year.
Go-Ahead will run the franchise in a joint venture with French company Keolis. The French company has been selected to run the Intercity West Coast franchise along with Nv Nederlandse Spoorwegen, Firstgroup, SNCF and Virgin.
The Chief Executive of Go-Ahead, Keith Ludeman, said that their selection to run the franchise is good news for the company.
The company is currently operating in Southern, Southeastern and London Midland. The Greater Anglia rail franchise would be a great deal for them.
Go-Ahead focuses on carrying out rail operations along with improving the quality and services provided to the passengers.
Ludeman added that their company has a team of 22,000 experienced and skilled employees and they are looking forward for the competitions. The company has plans for the Olympic Games through their work at Southeastern and bus operations in London.
