The radiation level will be checked on all car parts imported from Japan by Nissan Motor Co. The parts will be checked for the radiation in 3 stages. The 3 stages will be before shipment to Taiwan, at the arrival, and at last after assembly.
According to the statement by Nissan Motor Co., it has been disclosed that stickers stating "radiation check OK" will be put in the right corner of the windscreens of all finished cars, if they have levels less than 0.2 millisieverts permitted.
Since the quake and tsunami has caused a nuclear power plant crisis in the Japan, Taiwan authorities have starting checking Japanese products.
The fishing boats of Taiwanese have been asked to stay out of Japanese water. All the imported goods have been checked for radiation and travelers coming from Japan are being scanned. The radiation level is being checked by nuclear authority everyday.
Nissan’s Spokesperson, Mitsuru Yonekawa said that the Iwaki Factor, one among the two engine plants in Japan, still has no running water. He said that the factory makes 376,000 engines per year.
The auto production was stopped by Nissan from March14 to 16, though it is running again in Japan.
Mitsuru said that the tsunami has resulted in the production loss of 42,000 cars.
