The European Commission had claimed that they have filed an appeal against the World Trade Organization for giving green signal to Boeing Co. in spite of illegal subsidies.

The commission has filed this appeal on Friday and they are ready to face the disputes.

"The appeal has been lodged", the European Commission's spokesman on trade issues, John Clancy, said.

This appeal came in very quickly as soon as the WTO ruled that Boeing got at least $5.3 billion of illegal subsidies. The appeal came in almost less than 24 hours.

The WTO verdict was inappropriate in the recent chapter of dispute over illegal subsidies paid by the European Union and United States to these airliners.

“The EU side appealed technical elements of the ruling for legal strategic reasons”, John Clancy, the European Commission’s trade spokesman in Brussels, said by e-mail today.

This verdict came after almost 9 months after WTO concluded that these airliners have got high values of Euros from the governments on a very low rate of interest. EU Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht claimed that this is a clear winning scenario from European side.

Judges have found that Boeing has got illegal subsidies of over $5.3 billion in between 1986 and 2006.
