Consumers Are the Target

In a cyber disaster, consumers were affected as their name and credentials were exposed online. These consumers were mostly from Citigroup to Walgreen to HSN. The US corporate firm were the targets.

This has become the biggest breaches in US history. The computers were affected and the hackers penetrated the hard drives thus causing this breach. The computers of Epsilon were breached for the consumer information.

Many firms have already warned their consumers regarding a possible security breach.

TiVo and credit-card lender Capital One have added their names in the list of the target companies. Some of the nation’s largest banks were involved. This list has been compiled by Reuters.

Epsilon said that some person outside the company has hacked inside and breached the computer for its client information.

Law enforcement officers are presently running the investigations regarding the breach. Reports are still unclear about the extent of damage and the number of possible consumers compromised. Epsilon is also investigating regarding the security and the possible areas of breach.

"While we are cooperating with authorities and doing a thorough investigation, we cannot say anything else," said Epsilon spokeswoman Jessica Simon.

This incident happened almost three years after computer hackers have penetrated Heartland Payment Systems for its credit card and debit card information.
