A formal permission is sought by the bosses of BP to resume their drilling operations in the Gulf of Mexico in less than a year after a unit of the leading player in the oil and gas industry reported of an explosion.
It was previously reported that a major oil spill took place at the Gulf of Mexico recently at a unit that was initially backed by BP. The deepwater horizon accident claimed the life of 11 workers and adversely affected numerous people from local communities to businesses in the Gulf coast region.
Following this, the United States directed for its closure as some serious and lethal security issues associated with the plant cropped up.
Now facing infinite penalties for civil and criminal offences, BP is desperate to regain its image and influence in the international market.
Meanwhile, a sustainability review for the year 2010 has been officially released by the BP that is primarily focused on earning back trust and building a sustainable BP for the future.
In addition, an official permission for the continuation of the drilling at 10 existing deepwater production and developments wells is also sought from the Obama administration.
A spokesman for the BP accentuated that although, the work is in progress but nothing can be claimed unless a formal announcement is made.
