Mine Blast Raises Concerns on Safety of Miners

It has been more than a year now that the mine explosion had occurred in West Virginia. It was a terrible explosion and had claimed the lives of 29 people. The process of identification of the victims and notification to their families is still going on.

It was unravelled in a NPR News Investigation program that there are so many problems involved in the process in search and rescue operations in the mine field.

There was a fiery explosion that had occurred back then and there was the loss of people as well as loss incurred in their mine field.

According to the new notes that have been given out, there are the difficulties that the miners face shown. It is a complicated task to go in the mines and look for the victims. There is rubble everywhere and no proper facilities for light and air.

There is a need to deal with these issues so that the rescuers themselves don’t become victims. Care needs to be taken for the safety and security of the miners. They are an asset to the firm and their safety should be an issue of concern. The explosion had occurred during a shift change and this is the reason help was not easily available.
