The two technology giants in the market have a new drama as Hewlett-Packard Co. has sued its former Senior Vice President now working for the Oracle Corporation.
Hewlett-Packard Co. has alleged that their former Senior Vice President, Adrian Jones, has stolen their trade secrets and leaked them to their rival Oracle Corp. upon joining.
Adrian Jones served H-P as a Senior Vice President in its Asian operations. On Feb. 11, he copied some relevant data of H-P with the help of a USB storage device. The copied data included H-P's strategic and financial plans, sales figures and employee data along with other information. H-P has filed a complaint regarding the issue on Wednesday in California Superior Court in Santa Clara County.
In the complaint, H-P has also marked that Mr. Jones resigned five days later and didn't return the copied files to the company. And a month later, he informed H-P about his similar new job profile at Oracle. Mr. Jones joined H-P in March 2007. Unfortunately, after the incident he couldn't be reached by the company and thus H-P has finally lodged a complaint against Mr. Jones.
An Oracle spokeswoman when contacted declined to comment. A spokeswoman for H-P said the action has been taken to prevent Mr. Jones from illegally using the documents to place H-P "in an unfair competitive disadvantage”.
