It seems that the Redmond, Washington based software giant Microsoft is now looking to explore the idea of making pupils learn with fun. Microsoft has created The Games for Learning Institute (GfLI), in collaboration with the New York University and other colleges.
Microsoft has injected $1.5 million into new learning institute GfLI, which aims to study how video games could positively influence gamers and students.
According to Microsoft, the goal of GfLI is to study whether video games could help to evoke students' interest into math, science and technology-based programs. In the study, the Institute will initially include some middle school students.
Commenting on the concept, the Microsoft head of gaming research John Nordlinger said, "We want to figure out what's compelling about the games. If we can find out how to make the games fun and not make them so violent, that would be ideal."
