US Government Plans to Shutdown, Many Agencies Would Continue to Work

The US government has planned to shutdown but the Medicare and Medicaid coverage of medical care and prescription drugs will continue to work. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) will also continue to work but the institute will serve only 90% of its normal patient load.

The CDC will also continue to function at a reduced level. The shutdown will mainly affect the activities involved in protecting human life and property. Lab research on new things such as new food borne pathogens will be suspended for some time.

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) will also continue to inspecting meat, poultry, and eggs. The most of the agency’s activities would be reduced but those related to law enforcement and protecting life and property would continue on full scale. Inspection of products being exported will also be performed.
