Why did Apple reject some of the iPhone applications?

It must have disappointed, in fact annoyed the iPhone app developers, when Apple rejected their applications and refused to include them in its App Store. What is more, Apple did not disclose any reason for rejecting the applications.

What could be the reason behind Apple's arbitrary decision? Why did Apple reject the applications? What was wrong with the applications?

Well, these questions are still unanswered. The iPhone app developers and the iPhone app trackers are eagerly looking for the answers of these questions. Only Apple knows the answers. The company, however, did not offer any comment, and its representatives didn't respond. Anyway, here is the list of iPhone applications rejected by Apple.

Obama Trampoline- Apple rejected Swamiware's Obama Trampoline game this month. The game lets you place one of 18 politicians onto a giant trampoline to pop balloons floating across the screen. In characters, the game offers Barack Obama, John McCain, and other politicians from both parties. Commenting on the rejection of the game, Swamiware President and CEO Patrick Alphonso, said, "It's cartoony. It's a game. We spent a lot of time and money on this product. It sucks to develop an app and get it rejected for reasons that you weren't aware of."

MyShoe- Apple probably rejected MyShoe, conceived by a Pakistan-based programmer, to ward off controversy. It is the game based on the journalist throwing shoe at Bush. The developer, however, said that the game lets you take aim at Bin Laden and other public figures.

I Am Poor- Apple put a "no user functionality" stamp on 99 cents application, I Am Poor, developed by Catamount Software. Apple probably found it uninteresting. Reacting to the rejection, the app developer Hardy Macia of Catamount Software said, "Their policies and approval are shrouded in mystery."

The South Park App- the application created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone was also rejected. In reaction, the creators said, "After a couple of attempts to get the application approved, we are sad to say that our app has been rejected. According to Apple, the content was potentially offensive.

Pull My Finger- On rejection of the Pull My Finger, the developer Sam Magdalein said, "Their reasons for banning us really didn't add up." According to Magdalein, initially Apple said Pull My Finger had "limited utility," but then went on to explain that it might offend some of the iPhone's more sophisticated overseas shoppers. "After that, they pretty much stopped talking to us or returning e-mail and voicemail," Magdalein said.

iBoobs- the breast application by Mystic Game Development was rejected by Apple saying that the program featured "inappropriate sexual content," along with "obscene, pornographic, offensive, or defamatory content." MGD Development Director John van der Burg reacted, "Watching an episode of Baywatch on TV shows a lot more than iBoobs, besides that, iBoobs is just a 3-D model and not even real."

Slasher- the application was rejected dubbing it "offensive content". Josef Wankerl, the app's creator, told, "In a word, I was upset. I tried contacting Apple to see if there was any way to resolve their concerns, but they never answered my e-mail."

Murderdrome- the application from the comic creator PJ Holden was rejected calling it Non-kid-friendly content. "Apple's 'reasonable judgment' seems to depend largely on an individual reviewer's judgment rather than any simple-to-gauge metric," Holden said.

Podcaster- Apple rejected the program developed by Alex Sokirynsky saying that it was too similar to iTunes. Probably, Apple didn't want any rival program in its app store.

Freedom Time- the Alec Vance's presidential countdown clock was rejected, saying that the app, designed to tick down the final moments of the outgoing administration, defamed or demeaned political figures.

Rejection of apps is like lottery

There are instances of rejected applications accepted again, which defies all logic.
