The Prime Minister of Greece was of the view that the painful austerity measures taken by the nation are just the beginning of the reforms that shall help in bringing the nation back on its track in terms of economy and finance.
There was the presentation of a new pack of reforms that are worth as much as euro23 billion. The Prime Minister, George Papandreou was of the view that these reforms were a duty towards the nation and would be important to bring about a much needed change for the betterment of the condition of the economy of the nation.
He also said that these new measures shall be brought to the public eye after Easter and then the rebuilding process of the nation’s economy shall start. He said the need of the hour is to get the nation out of debts and on stable path to recovery. He further added that the problems of the nation "will be addressed in depth. Not by restructuring the debt but when we restructure the country”.
The new reforms involve a number of changes like salary cuts, broad tax hikes as well as cuts in the pensions.
