Los Angeles - Woody Allen has tapped Freida Pinto to star in an upcoming movie in what will be the model-turned actress' first role after her turn in the Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire, Variety reported Tuesday.
The 24-year-old, Mumbai-born star will work with actors Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins and Naomi Watts on the as-yet-untitled Allen film, which is set to begin shooting in London in July 2009.
It will be Pinto's second film role after she was plucked from obscurity by director Danny Boyle to star in Slumdog Millionaire.
There was no report of a role in the movie for Dev Patel, Pinto's Slumdog co-star, but that might be because he will be busy working on M Night Shyamalan's new movie The Last Airbender.
Despite the success of Slumdog at the Oscars and at other awards shows, neither Pinto nor Patel won any individual acting awards for their roles in the film. The movie did win the Screen Actors Guild Award for outstanding performance by a cast. (dpa)
