The countless users of Gmail were a collective bundle of nerves when they could not access their Gmail accounts on Tuesday, due to a sudden so-called “glitch” in service – “Gfail” as it was called!
The problem, apparently encountered by Gmail users worldwide, began at about 10:20 GMT. The message that appeared on the screen said: “Server Error. The server encountered a temporary error and could not complete your request. Please try again in 30 seconds.”
Though the Google engineers were immediately on their toes to resolve the problem, Google told FOX Business that the reason behind the glitch could not be figured out instantly. A Google spokesperson informed British gadget website Pocket Lint that the engineers working on the problem were clueless as to why the errors kept turning up.
The malfunction, however, was apparently related to the website, since there were reports of UK and US users confirming the accessibility to their emails via their desktop inboxes and phones.
The Gmail glitch, which irked the users, was resolved almost three hours after it was acknowledged by Google.
Soon after the service access was restored, a Gmail help center page message read: “We know how important Gmail is to our users, so we take issues like this very seriously, and we apologize for the inconvenience.” (Rupinder contributed to this report)
