Ever since their October 2008 fusion, Reunion. com and Wink were expected to begin anew with a completely refurbished website, under a fresh brand name early this year - and so they have! Hereafter, the amalgamation will be known by their site name MyLife. com.
Though the out-and-out people search engine Wink retains its web presence, Reunion. com has redirected to MyLife. com. The site, integrating the Wink technology, has resulted in the new hybrid social platform - it is not just a full-blown search engine which finds people, it now helps visitors hook up with the people on the same site.
Going by the company presentation page, MyLife. com already takes pride in the fact that it can trace over 750 million online profiles by the means of its search index!
According to ComScore's January 2009 data, MyLife is, in effect, the fourth largest social networking site in the US - the first three being Facebook, MySpace and Classmates. com - thanks to the fairly good traffic for Reunion. com. The comScore figures revealed Reunion having 15.4 million unique visitors in the US and 18.2 million visitors worldwide.
Reunion founder and CEO Jeffrey Tinsley said that the company grew a substantial 92% in 2008. Of the $26.4 million it raised over the two venture capital rounds, it spent $6 million for five acquisitions - namely, Wink, MyAddressBook, GoodContacts, Planet Alumni, and HighSchoolAlumni. com!
