The 65-year-old Oscar-winning actress, Dame Helen Mirren, has stated that she was not excited about her role in the re-make of the 1980s comedy Arthur, which starred Dudley Moore.
She expressed that she was not much of a fan of the movie and only accepted to feature in it because Russell Brand invited her to be in the movie.
Mirren claimed that she loved Russell and always wanted to work with him. She also referred to her role, which had to do with an old nanny (Hobson) spending all her life taking care of a drunk, as annoying.
Owing to the fact that the role did not appeal to her feminist side. Mirren expressed that she didn’t want people to view her as an over serious actress so she had to be comfortable with her role.
Though the role was challenging for her and different from what she is use to, she claims to be up to the task.
The new movie Arthur has received loads of criticisms from the states and it’s been reported to be completely “terrible”.
However, Dudley Moore’s version of the movie is said to be better than the new one as he effectively portrayed the character of Arthur while Russell didn’t impress people with his portrayal of the character.
