In the wake of the alarming rate of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among young people, Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania has planned to distribute vouchers for free or low-cost HIV, chlamydia and gonorrhea testing during Hopeless Records' Take Action Tour concert at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia on April 23rd.
Get Yourself Tested campaign is being held across the country and this Planned Parenthood mobile awareness event is a part of STI awareness and prevention activities under the campaign.
Planned Parenthood is running the award-winning GYT campaign in collaboration with MTV, the Kaiser Family Foundation, and the U. S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and they will be distributing condoms, T-shirts, sexual health information, and a limited number of vouchers for free or low-cost STI and HIV tests.
Dayle Steinberg, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania stated, “We're reaching out to young people to let them know that STI testing is a simple, quick process that should be a routine part of their health care. We want them to know that Planned Parenthood is here to provide them with high-quality, affordable care”.
