Massachusetts Nurses Association on Strike at Tuft, Saint Vincent on May 6

The nurses at Tufts Medical Center in Boston and Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester said that they will be on strike on May 6, just to demand for more staff in the hospital. Almost 1,000 nurses will be on strike at Tuft that day. The union revealed that this will be a first ever strike at Boston from last 25 years, which will start early in the morning at 6 am and it will end at 7am, in the next morning.

According to the federal law, union needs to give a 10 days prior notice before strike. But, the Massachusetts Nurses Association gave the notice day before.

An Official, Zane revealed that the hospitals have planned to replace the nurses for next five days, in order to take care of the patients. She said that the nurses who will walk off the job on May 6 will not be entertained at the hospital for next one week.

David Schildmeier, Spokesman for the Canton-based nurses association, said that the union never wanted to go on a strike. He said, “Both of these hospitals have created the worst staffing conditions in their respective cities”. He added that the officials do not seems to be concerned with the raised problem at hospital.
