Contraction in the Market Shares of Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury

The three companies; Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury’s have seen their market shares declining in the quarter by 30.5pc to 30.4pc, 17.6pc to 17.4pc and 16.4pc to 16.3 pc respectively. The other three small rivals were profited by the decline in the shares of these three companies.

The other rival companies, Aldi, Lidl and Waitrose have posted a growth of 3pc to 3.3pc, 2.3pc top 2.6pc and 4.1pc to 4.3pc respectively. This is just the revival of the supermarket chains, Aldi and Lidl.

The sale at Aldi has been raised by 15% while the sale at Lidl has posted a growth of almost 14.5%. The discounters at Aldi has dubbed their customers to Aldi Rati, many middle class customers took the advantages of the discounts to save their money.

The Director of the Kantar, Edward Garner, said that Aldi and Lidl are in profits and the large proportion of customers is spending there.

An analyst at Evolution Securities, Dave McCarthy, said that Tesco has been declining day-by-day, and which helps in the growth of its rivals.

Meanwhile, the data from the Kantar Worldpanel disclosed that Adli and Lidl have posted the growth in market shares by 3.3% and 2.6% respectively.
