Boston Scientific Corp. has launched new heart devices, Energen and Punctua. Boston Scientific announced on Friday that they have started selling these heart devices in Europe and other non-US markets. These newly launched devices are the smallest and thinnest devices for the treatment of heart attack.
Energen and Punctua have been approved by the European controller in October 2010 and now Boston Scientific is expecting the devices to get an approval from Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in may be 2011 or early 2012.
The new devices cover its cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillator (CRT-D) and implantable cardioverter defibrillators, or ICDs, which are used for the treatments of rapid heartbeats. On the other hand, the CRT-D includes an ICD and a resynchronization device, which is used to treat the pumping action of heart.
The new heart devices are not easily visible from outside in comparison to the older heart devices. These devices are easier to implant and even the delivered therapies are adapted for each and every patient.
Meanwhile, it was disclosed that shares of the Boston Scientific have jumped 16 cents to $7.72, which is 2.1%.
