Ministerial E-health Conference Opens in Budapest

According to reports, the European Commission along with the Hungarian Government has opened the e-health Ministerial Conference for 2011 in Budapest.

They were said to have pointed out the major medical, social and economic importance of e-health for the continent, as well as urged the Member State Governments to have set targets and put in, more time and efforts in making e-health solutions available to citizens.

The representative of the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of Europe, Miklos Rethelyi, has stated that the health sector has the potential to bring about economic growth and sustainability with the use of e-health which will be used to modernize and enhance the sector.

However, the Vice-President of the European Commission and European Digital Agenda Commissioner, Neelie Kroes, has commended the Hungarian Presidency for taking their time to organize the conference.

She stated that the promises regarding e-health solutions made to Member States were already being accomplished.

Also, the European Commissioner for Health and Consumer Policy, John Dalli, has emphasized that the need of e-health is not related to it being the new generally used health tool, but its enormous ability to optimize efficiency and provide better health care services to patients.
