There's competition coming Apple iPhone 3G's way; with the LG-Verizon combined offering - the touch-screen mobile LG Versa - hitting the stores on March 1!
In fact, going by the specs, the Versa will be rubbing shoulders for smartphone market share not just with the iPhone, but also with RIM's BlackBerry Storm; the Google Android-based T-Mobile G1; the Toshiba TG01; and a handful of others.
Accentuating versatility, the LG Versa - to be available at Verizon Wireless stores for $200 after a $50 rebate - comes with a clip-on QWERTY keypad; and an "animated"
3-inch LCD TFT 480 x 240 touchscreen; a 2.0 megapixel camera with video capabilities; a 16 GB microSD memory port; Bluetooth 2.1; a 2.5mm headset jack and a music player.
Manufactured by LG Electronics MobileComm USA, the LG Versa, a black handheld with a chrome border, runs over Verizon's CDMA and EV-DO Rev.; with its web browser supporting Flash video to allow three windows to be kept open at one time.
Fitted with the popular smartphone feature - an accelerometer - the LG Versa facilitates rotation of images on the touch screen. The mobile also supports voice, video and text messaging, and mobile e-mail services.
LG Versa has a virtual keypad on the touch screen, and its interface is available in English as well as Spanish. The phone has a battery support of 290 minutes of use and
430 hours of standby time.
