Walgreen arm acquires CareMax

OptionCare Enterprises Inc., a subsidiary of Walgreen Co, has informed that it has bought Tampa, Florida based home care provider CareMax Medical Resources LLC.

However, the financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed by the company.

CareMax provides home care services such as infusion and respiratory services. CareMax patients can now access home infusion and respiratory services through Walgreens-OptionCare.

The latest buyout by OptionCare Enterprises Inc. adds CareMax businesses and assets located in seven communities in Colorado, Florida, Pennsylvania and Texas.

NYSE-listed Walgreen Co. is the nation's largest drugstore chain with fiscal 2008 sales of $59 billion. The firm owns large percentage of Milwaukee-area pharmacies.

The scrip of the company settled the day on Friday at $23.86, up 2% compared to previous close.
