Four stabbed at boy's birthday party

Canadian police in Oshawa, Ontario, killed a man who fatally stabbed a woman and slashed her husband and two children at a weekend birthday party.

Gino Petralia, 47, was shot by police at an adjacent townhouse Saturday afternoon after fleeing his neighbor's blood-soaked unit, the Toronto Sun reported.

Police found Lesley Kelly, 26, dying from multiple stab wounds to her chest. Her 29-year-old husband Rick and two of their sons, 3 and 5, had been slashed and stabbed.

Two other boys, 11 and 13, had hidden and were unharmed, the Toronto Star reported.

Police said the 911 call was made at 4:30 p. m. by the mortally wounded Lesley Kelly as her husband attempted to protect his children and the 13-year-old boy who was the attacker's son.

The Kelly family was given custody of Petralia's son in August after his wife died of cancer and he was undergoing psychiatric care, the reports said.

Monday, the 3-year-old was listed in critical condition, the 5 year-old was stable and their father was in serious condition, the reports said.
