Former Hawaii doctor, Carlos Warter, was arrested in Argentina after convicted of allegedly pocketing over $500,000.

Warter claimed to be a spiritual healer who could provide people with various spiritual and modern medicines. His website showed him with highly influential people, including Pope John Paul II and Colin Powell. What his patients did not know was Warter was charging the government for work he did not do.

Many times Warter was not even in the country when he claims he was with patients in Hawaii.

After reviewing Warter’s records suspicions were made by the fraud team who then notified authorities which lead to further investigation of Warter’s fraudulent billing. The government is lead to believe that Warter made $1 million fake insurance claims and has pocketed over $530,000.

Warter’s is expected to appear in court sometime in the near future. Sadly, similar cases of doctors making fraudulent claims have been reported locally and across the United Sates.
