US Automaker Ford Announces New Car Seat Heart Beat Monitor
Heart Beat Monitor

Ford has proceeded with its course to provide in-built car medical services as they have announced the invention of a new car seat which monitors the drivers or passengers’ heartbeat.

They made this announcement after collaborating with the German University and the previous invention of technologies like pollen counters and glucose monitors, which may someday be connected to vehicles.

The new seat, which is reported to be the joint effort of Ford and Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule (RWTH) Aachen University, is said to use in-built sensors that can identify the electrical impulses brought about by the heart.

The new technology is said to be favorable, as there is access to a driver's heartbeat and the state of health of the driver can be checked regularly, as well as a displayed daily reading.

Also, if a driver is at risk of heart problem and the system detects it, it may slow the car automatically in order to reduce the risk of a serious accident.

Toyota US boss Jim Press, was reported to have stated in 2005, that he believed future models could have “blood pressure monitors and diabetes detection software” which is materializing now.
