Voluntary Donors to be Honored During Blood Donor Week

The World Blood Donor Day is observed on June 14, 2011, this time the medical fraternity across the world is aiming to raise awareness for the need of safe blood products.

In fact, for the whole one week from June 12 to June 18, 2011, the mascot of Community Blood Services, Bernie the Blood Drop, and John Tinari, co-owner of Janice, a bistro in Ho-Ho-Kus, have plans to honor and thank all those voluntary unpaid blood donors who have donated blood for saving the lives of many others.

"A Week of Great Food for A Great Cause" is the name of this event which will be celebrated at Janice, a bistro in Ho-Ho-Kus. During this week, a minimum of 10% of their dining proceeds will be donated to the Community Blood Services Foundation.

In this regard, John Tinari, Co-owner of Janice, said, "We want to do our part to raise awareness of the critical need for blood donors and to acknowledge the work Community Blood Services does with hospitals throughout our community”.

The staff of this club will also contribute in spreading the message. The importance of being a blood donor will be highlighted. And a portion of every breakfast, lunch and dinner would be donated to the foundation.
