Will ‘Kindle for iPhone’ benefit Amazon?

Since the Seattle-based online retailer Amazon has released its "Kindle for iPhone" application, the tech analysts are hotly discussing the question, "Will Kindle for iPhone benefit Amazon?"

Well, it certainly is a significant question for Amazon that released its free "Kindle for iPhone" application for the iPhone and iPod Touch users, on Wednesday. The program helps fetching several Kindle functions to Apple's popular gadgets - iPhone and iPod Touch. With the application, the iPhone and iPod Touch uses can read the kindle ebooks purchased from the library of Amazon.

Undoubtedly, "Kindle for iPhone" is a wonderful application for bibliophile iPhone and iPod Touch uses. The analysts say that the program will definitely benefit Amazon.

According to analysts, 'Kindle for iPhone' will bring millions more potential e-book buyers to Amazon, as there are millions of iPhone and iPod Touch uses in United States; the iPhone and iPod Touch are one of the most popular devices in United States. Thus, the application will help popularizing Kindle and Amazon. The market data states that "4.3 million 3G iPhones alone were sold in the United States in 2008". So, the application will help increasing the sales of Amazon e-books.

Stephen Ju, an analyst with RBC Capital Markets, reckons that with 'Kindle for iPhone,' Amazon simply wants push up its ebooks sales. He said, "I don't think they care if you don't buy a Kindle if they can sell you a book. I think that's what they really care about at the end of the day."

Tim Bajarin, the Creative Strategies' tech analyst feels that 'Kindle for iPhone' application will help expanding Kindle capabilities to Apple's products. Bajarin elaborated that currently Amazon's library has 240,000 books available for Kindle; the number will grow; as the number of ebooks grows, Amazon will need more people to buy the ebooks.

Bajarin said, "If you've only limited it to a Kindle (device) audience, you don't have exponential growth." He believes 'Kindle for iPhone' application will have a "significant impact" on people discovering e-books.

I just bought an iPhone last week after having a Blackberry for 6 years. The iPhone is so much better! Yesterday I downloaded my first few games, and the kids loved JigSee, which lets you take a picture from the iPhone camera and turn it into a jigsaw puzzle game. But I will be getting this Kindle app right now!!!
