Salmonella Outbreak in Ohio

As per Medical News, there was spread of salmonella in the state of Ohio, the officials of the area were examining the ducklings and chicks that were being supplied from the hatcheries of the state. Around 8 cases were diagnosed to be infected with the strain salmonella. The federal officials believed that the epidemic had spread in 15 other states of the region.

As per the Ohio Department of Health and the Ohio Department of Agriculture, the epidemic was being connected to the chicks and ducklings of Mt. Healthy Hatchery. Apart from this, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, claimed 31 were infected with the infection due to spread of the disease in Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Maryland, Minnesota, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Virginia.

Salmonella is a bacterial infection affecting the intestines, thereby causing fever, nausea and other health discomforts. The infection was not incurable in anyway, it was quiet common in the US, one out of every six person in the US contracted the disease, but still the nation had done nothing in its concern from past 15 years, said CDC. The US Department of Health and Human Services revealed that 8,200 people became infected in 2010, 29 people died from the infection.
