Net Applications: Firefox, Safari gaining against Internet Explorer

It appears that Microsoft is losing some ground since European Commission has registered Opera's complaint against Microsoft for illegally tying its Internet Explorer web browser with its Windows operating system.

The data from Net Applications shows that Mozilla's Firefox is taking its bite of the browser market share from the leader Internet Explorer. The data articulates that Firefox has gained 21.77 % against Internet Explorer in the year
2009.

According to Net Applications, Apple's Safari gains 8.02 % browser market share, while Google's Chrome browser surged over 1 % to settle at 1.15 %.

Net Applications' data states that Internet Explorer's browser market share dropped to 67.44 % in the current year. The Internet Explorer hit its peak in 2003, capturing 95 % market share, but it is currently declining.
