A $2 million second round of funding has been closed by Fantzer, for its wiki-fashion summative celebrity trend tracking site - Coolspotters! The round was led by Steamboat Ventures and Second Avenue Partners, both of whom also led the first $1.87 million funding round for the Collinsville, Connecticut-based company.
With Coolspotters's celebrity index already crammed with teeny-bopper pseudo-celebrities - excluding President Obama - the new investment will obviously go towards sustained efforts to build the platform, which will incorporate mobile applications in the near future.
The one-of-its-kind Coolspotters site not only pays particular attention to brands and products used by the celebrities, it also allows the users can go straight to the products, which have been categorized as cars, places and entertainment. The general products tab enables users take a peek at jewelry, phones, software, furniture, and many other things endorsed by the glitterati.
According to Fantzer, the Coolspotters site - which initially gained trustworthiness after renowned celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe partnered its launch - pulls nearly 300,000 unique monthly users.
Though it is said that the site has quite a few designated community editors for scrutinizing the content, the accuracy cannot be guaranteed; more so because it is the users who create profiles for celebrities, brands and products and constantly add the content on the site, quite like the Wikipedia!
