A report revealed by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has alleged that the Boston's Pilgrim Hospital had not met required standards in 12 of 16 categories. The report has highlighted that the hospital has failed to meet the nutritional needs of patients. Finding itself faulty, the United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust said it "apologized unreservedly".
It has come to light that the CQC inspectors conducted a surprise visit in February and alleged the hospital for its lack of services and care. However, further police investigation of the case delayed the publication of the report.
It has been told that when the CQC inspectors caught the hospital red-handed, they threatened the hospital of taking legal actions if the hospital didn’t do anything immediately to improve the condition. But because of the slow speed of trust’s decision making, the action got delayed and CQC severely criticized the hospital.
In the report, it has been highlighted that the hospital has been neglecting the care of patients for long. It showed that patients with painful injuries were left untreated by the hospital. The inspectors also found that the patients of the hospital were having difficulty in consuming their food and staff was found neglecting the proper check-up of the patients.
