Adam Deans, a member of a drug loop, has appeared in the court due to the involvement in the kidnapping of a man. The 29 years old man has been declared guilty of assisting the culprits in the illegal confinement of Benjamin Elliott.
Mr. Elliott was targeted by the leader of the group, Sharon Ann Stott, and five other members, including Deans.
Mr. Elliott was grabbed on May 12, 2009, during the morning time from the Wanniassa shops. He was kept in a Stott’s Kambah house for a day. He was asked by the culprits to repay their drug debts. But, Mr. Elliot was saved when the police found the house.
Deans told in the court that he feared Stott as he is quite imperious and so couldn’t help the victim in escaping. He also said that he has left drugs and alcohol after the 2009 incident.
Justice Hilary Penfold said, “Deans was a minor player in the confinement and has indicated full-time custody is not necessary”.
The other men, Stott, Fakatounaulupe Ngata, Jeremy Campbell, Stephen Trotman and Michael Charles Berwick, who were involved in this crime, have also been declared guilty and are expected to be jailed in August.
Stott and Ngata have been charged for unlawful confinement and the other three men alike Deans have been declared guilty for supporting the two men in the crime.
