Ban, Obama to discuss Sudan, global economic crisis

Washington  - US President Barack Obama and United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon are to discuss Sudan, the global economic crisis and other issues Tuesday at the White House.

The US ambassador to the UN, Susan Rice, made the announcement Friday in New York.

The meeting would be an "important opportunity to discuss a range of critical security and development issues" that are to include the humanitarian crisis in Sudan, global efforts to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons, UN reform, climate change, and UN peacekeeping operations, Rice said. (dpa)
