European Health Insurance Card to Help Minimize Medical Bills

European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) can play a role to reduce huge medical bills inspite of its various benefits; a majority of people, 58%, are unaware of its importance whereas less than half of people, 42%, people possessed knowledge about the card.

Most of the Britons consider the card, which needs to be renewed in every five years, as a replacement for health insurance; however, the card is aimed to permit cheaper medical treatment in any EU or EEA country.

While pinpointing the benefits of EHIC, Bob Atkinson of moneysupermarket. com has also notified the distinction between and said that the card only offers relatively low level access to medical treatment. In addition, he explained that the cost for accidents, extensive treatment and repatriation home will not be covered under the EHIC therefore Eurozone travelers are advised to have both travel insurance as well as the card.

“Brits hitting Europe this summer without an EHIC could end up facing a hefty bill if they need medical care while they're on vacation”, explained Bob Atkinson. “Medical treatment in the EU and EEAs varies from country to country as well as being very different to NHS care in the UK”.

The card can be availed in a short time period of seven days from www. ehic. org. uk or even making a call on 0845 606 2030.
