Governor Proposes a Ban over Use of Tris

Governor Cuomo has proposed to bring a ban over the sale of children's products treated with Tris. The scientists have linked the chemical with cancer. It is believed that if the chemicals come in contact with kids it could trigger cancer.

It has come to light that the proposed ban will come for the first time in 2013. The chemical is used in large quantity in the production of toys, car seats, crib mattresses, and strollers. However in 1977, a ban was imposed upon the use of Tris on clothes. The 1977 ban was imposed by the consumer product safety commission.

The plans of Governor to bring a ban over the use of chemical were announced on Saturday. On that day, he said that soon he will be signing a state law to impose a ban over the use of Tris. He has warned that if any company is found using the chemical after 2013, then the violator will be imposed with a fine of $1,000 per day.

Although the scientists have accused Tris of triggering cancer, the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association said the study did not support the allegations because it instead focused on materials chemically related to Tris that have similar names but are not banned.
