‘Bite Counter’ for Losing Weight? Let’s See How It Goes

In what may well turn out to be benevolence for people struggling to drop weight, experts have developed a watch-like gadget that potentially tracks wrist-roll movement to tally how many bites the wearer takes.

The device, which has been dubbed “Bite Counter”, is an upshot of joint endeavor by an electrical and computer engineering professor and a professor of psychology at Clemson University in South Carolina.

During a test run, the Bite Counter doled out an accuracy of over 90% in counting bites despite of the food, container, utensil and user.

The device, which can be easily turned on and off, is somewhat a pedometer for eating.

Though it's certainly not tracking types of food, it is deliberated to scrutinize only the quantity of consumption.

However, there exists some information on how bite counting correlate with calorie intake and the developers will reportedly study the issue narrowly.

The study will start with 20 subjects being tested during one month.

At the society level, prevailing weight-loss and fitness programs are nowhere making a significant impact.

Studies have revealed that people hardly care what they eat by heavy margins, generally due to the traditional methods depending upon self-observation and reporting.

The team announced that manufacturing of Bite Counter has already been initialized. So, we can expect Bite Counter, which preserves logs of motion locally, in stores and on wrists before long.
