Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez will be visiting Cuba again for his cancer treatment. He had his tumour removed in Cuba in June and underwent chemotherapy.
The President notified that his treatment was proceeding well but he did not disclose the exact position. His poor health has raised doubts about him standing in next elections.
The Venezuelan parliament will be meeting on Saturday for a special session to decide on his departure to Cuba. The National Assembly website notified, “lawmakers will meet Saturday in a special session to vote on authorization”.
The President has asked for five days leave. One of the house in legislative assembly has already casted their votes for the presidents departure for the treatment however, many opposition lawmakers have raised concerns about him ruling from abroad. The opposition has also doubted his close relations with former Cuban leader Fidel Castro.
Chavez stated that he has seen a lot of improvement in his health but will have to undergo a few sessions of chemotherapy as a part of precautionary measures.
When Chavez left for the treatment to Cuba last time he had delegated his powers to his vice president and finance minister.
