American Vampire Bat Takes Life of 19-Year-Old

Until he could have known that he has been contracted with rabies, he died. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported one of its kind cases, where human rabies has come into light due to a vampire.

The report says: a 19-year-old man from Mexico got bitten on the heel of his left foot while he was asleep. He did not get himself checked and after 10 days went to Louisiana for work at a sugarcane plantation. Witnessing symptoms like fatigue, pain in his left shoulder and numbness in his left hand, he was provided with medical facility. But it did not work, and situations went from worse to worst. He got admitted to intensive care unit as his white cell count jumped, developed a fever of 101.1, his pupils became fixed and dilated. And, seeing this doctors performed ‘n’ number of tests on him, ranging from HIV to Lyme disease. But nothing got proven.

At the end, they suspected he could have rabies, and till the time they could confirm him that he was diagnosed with rabies and that too due to vampire bat, he was dead.

In Latin America, the major cause of human rabies is due to vampire bats and it seems that Latin American bats have been heading towards North.
