Washington - The US Senate voted Tuesday night for a 410- billion-dollar budget for the ongoing fiscal year, which is already five months old.
The upper chamber of Congress voted 62-35 to end debate on the legislation, which was then approved. The measure is identical to a version already passed last month by the US House of Representatives, so it moves directly to Obama's desk to be signed into law.
The budget gives an 8-per-cent increase for several federal agencies.
Opposition Republicans criticized the budget for containing too many pet projects of legislators and for raising government agency spending at more than twice the rate of inflation. (dpa)
