Want to know the truth of Apple’s touch screen netbook?

What's presently going on in Apple Inc.? Is Apple really planning for a touch screen netbook? When will Apple officially unveil its touch screen netbook? What will be the cost of Apple's touch screen netbook? Well, these certainly are hot questions in the tech world today.

These questions have surfaced because of the recent bunch of rumors saying that Apple is secretly preparing to bring out its touch screen netbook. The rumors are swirling around since some sources close to Apple and its associates have reported in Dow Jones Newswires and DigiTimes that Apple may launch its touch screen netbook in the second half of this year.

Today, another source has reported that Apple has placed order for touchscreens for its notebooks. According to the latest report, Apple will get the delivery of 10-inch touchscreens for its cheap, lightweight notebooks, from Taiwan's touchscreen manufacturer Wintek in third-quarter.

The rumors have already stated that Taiwan-based Quanta Computer and Taiwan-based touchscreen specialist, Wintek will help Apple bring out its touch screen netbook. But the latest report has come from the Taiwan media.

The source close to the Taiwan touchscreen specialist Wintek has reported that Wintek, which has already manufactured small touchscreens for Apple iPhones, has got an order for larger touchscreens, roughly the same size as those used in mini PCs. The source has refused to disclose identity, as isn't authorized to talk to the media. The source, however, has said that it has no information regarding the final product and who would make the final product.

Wintek spokesman James Chen has confirmed that Apple has been their major client, but he declined to comment on the recent rumors.

The Taiwan media has already broadcasted that Apple is currently developing a touchscreen netbook. The reports have already said that Taiwan's Quanta Computer, the world's top contract laptop PC maker would develop Apple's touch screen netbook.

However, Jill Tan, Apple's Hong Kong spokeswoman has stated that the company does not comment on market speculation, while a Quanta spokeswoman has declined to comment.

Hence, it is still unclear whether these reports have some elements of authenticity in them or they are mere baseless rumors. So, the people anxious to know the truth of Apple's touch screen netbook will just have to wait.
