According to reports, soon the South African Companies under the new breastfeeding law would be forced to provide facilities for breastfeeding employees.
However, the announcement was made by Aaron Motsoaledi Health Minister, on the occasion of breastfeeding conference, which was held on Monday. After the announcement, he stated that as compared to other countries, the country's health records showed the lowest rates of exclusive breastfeeding facilities.
He added, "The benefits of breastfeeding are well recognized for both infant and mother. Breastfeeding has a profound impact on child's survival, health, nutrition and development - and we have known this for decades".
Meanwhile, sharing her views about the new plan, Thulani Ntshani, a spokesman for the Department of Health, commented that this plan certainly would encourage the labor laws to support the employees to breastfeed and that companies should be allowed to offer numerous caring facilities, with the help of which the mothers would too become conscious about the significance of breast milk.
In the meanwhile, Professor Hoosen Coovadia, director of the maternal, adolescent and child health department at Wits University, also stressed on the issue and very well described packed milk as artificial and said there was scientific proof that breast milk has successfully hoarded many infants' lives.
